Lottomatica Roma unveiled swingman Luigi Datome as its newest signing on Saturday. Datome (202, 20), who arrives from Legea Scafati, inked a two-year deal. He grew up with Montepaschi Siena, making his Euroleague debut at the age of 16 in the 2004-05 season opener. His role continued to grow from year to year, but Datome decided to move to a smaller club during the 2006-07 season to get more playing time. He found his niche at Scafati and averaged 9.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 32 Italian League games there last season. Datome made his debut with the Italian senior national team at EuroBasket 2007 in Spain and then took part in seven games in the EuroBasket 2009 qualifying this past summer. Datome's signing gives head coach Jasmin Repesa 12 senior players under contract for the coming season.
